It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Plaquenil Otherwise known as hydroxychloroquine HCQ, Plaquenil is a therapy being studied as a possible PPMS therapy. This oral medication is used for other conditions i.e. lupus and rheumatoid. Whilst Plaquenil can cause stomach troubles, so can Lupus. What you think may be Plaquenil could just be Lupus. Plaquenil is apparently absorbed into body fat, so often when beginning the doctor will prescribe according to your weight. Apr 10, 2019 Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

Dec 05, 2017 Plaquenil is a mild DMARD disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug that is very commonly prescribed as a "starter drug" for a wide range of autoimmune conditions. It has a very good overall safety profile and is well-tolerated by most people. If you contract it, you go to a doctor. Chloroquine is a generally well tolerated drug. As CQ has a host-based MOA, resistance is unlikely to develop. There are some serious adverse effects and contraindications though. Do not take CQ if you have G6DH deficiency, get that checked. Plaquenil is most often well-tolerated but, like with any drug, side effects are possible. Most people about 90% who take antimalarial medications experience no side effects. If common side effects do occur, they are usually minor and last only for a short period of time.

Plaquenil.long do I have to wait? DailyStrength I've been on plaquenil for at least 15 years and from what i can remember it took about 6 months before i realized it was helping. now the best way to tell if its helping me is if i stop taking it, then i can REALLY tell. the pain is much worse along with the fatigue. plaquenil doesn't make it all go away but if i don't take it, it all comes.
