Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is a medication most known for its original purpose of treating or preventing malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. I don't believe that you risk dangers like you would with suddenly stopping a beta blocker or something along those lines. 200mg is a low dose and Plaquenil is generally regarded as a mild drug anyway compared to Methotrexate, etc. Regardless, it's always best to check with your doc. They may have you on it for maintenance/prevention. Dosage for Plaquenil. The adult dose of Plaquenil to suppress malaria is 400 mg on the same day each week. The pediatric weekly suppressive dosage is 5 mg/kg of body weight. The adult dose of Plaquenil to treat an acute attack of malaria is an initial dose of 800 mg followed by 400 mg in six to eight hours and 400 mg for two more days.

Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others.

I don't know for sure if it is the plaquenil or other meds but my rheumy seems to have my inflammation/stiffness under pretty good control. Been taking plaquenil and arava for about a year. Just rediced plaquenil from one tablet twice a day to one tablet once a day. I also take Cimzia injections bi-weekly but that has only been for about 6 months. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is the most commonly prescribed because it is generally believed to cause fewer side effects; chloroquine Aralen has a reputation for more serious side effects, but it may be prescribed in situations where hydroxychloroquine cannot be used. I saw a new doctor who sent me over to an MS clinic and they were appalled at how many serious symptoms were glossed over, and diagnosed me with SPMS after some scans. They told me I should have been treated as an adolescent. Needless to say I've found a new doctor, but I'm curious about other people's experience with receiving their MS diagnosis.

Can Valium and Xanax Be Taken Together? The Recovery Village Xanax is the brand name for alprazolam, a benzodiazepine. Valium is the brand name for diazepam, which is also a benzodiazepine. A few situations exist where a doctor might prescribe the two together, but it is uncommon. Mixing the two drugs without a prescription can lead to trouble breathing and excessive sedation.
