I have been on Plaquenil for a year and a half and im losing hair like crazy as well. My Rheumatologist just recently switched my med to Prednisone but i cant really see any changes yet. Plaquenil makes a very nice complement to minocycline. However, before starting it, be sure to check for side-effects and other drug-interactions with anything else you may be taking.

    Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

  4. The only thing that changed when I took myself off of it was my diarrhea decreased. Plaquenil was initially added to "help" the sulfasalazine, but it helps me on its own, with or without the ineffective SSZ. Humira is the heavy lifter among my meds. Plaquenil, Relafen my NSAID and my pain killer all just smooth off the edges.
